Web Home Page: Although it also supports a few small game species, the 2 186 ha Jericho Dam Nature Reserve is know primarily as a haunt for bird-watchers. Among the many species recorded here are two rare crane species - wattled and crowned. Location: Southern part of Mpumalanga; south-east of Ermelo. Access: From Ermelo take the R65 east-wards towards Amsterdam and Swaziland; after approximately 45 km turn right onto a graded gravel road signposted to the reserve and Sheepmoor; follow signposts to the reserve. Alternatively, from Ermelo take the N2 towards Piet Retief for 42 km, turn left onto a graded gravel road to Sheepmoor, and follow signposts to reserve. Accommodation: Camping site with outdoor fireplaces (small fee). Other facilities: Picnic sites; watersports; fishing (permit required); bird-watching. Open: Throughout the year. Opening time: 06h00 to 18h00
